Text Messaging (SMS) Terms
Effective September 5, 2026 · Latchkey · Portland, Oregon · hello@latchkey-app.com
1 The messaging program
Latchkey sends text messages to United States account holders for three reasons: one-time sign-in codes when you sign in with your phone number; account and job notifications you opt in to (primarily contractors who turn on lead alerts, the “Available Now” feature, plus a job award, a payment or payout update, a new in-app message, or a lease ready to sign); and a single invitation text when a contractor adds you to their crew, or when a homeowner sends a service request to your listed business number. Texts are sent through our messaging provider, Twilio. Every message that is not a reply to something you just did carries STOP instructions.
2 How you opt in
Text messaging is off by default. You opt in from inside your Latchkey account, not by texting a keyword. A member who wants text alerts opens their account settings (for contractors, the “Available Now / Lead texts” panel), enters their own mobile number, and must check a consent box, unchecked by default, that reads word for word:
“I agree to receive recurring automated lead and account text messages from Latchkey at this number. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of using Latchkey.”
The number is enrolled only after that box is checked and saved. SMS consent is never required to use Latchkey and is never a condition of purchase, and we never buy phone numbers or collect consent on anyone’s behalf.
Invitations and sign-in codes. A contractor who adds you to their crew enters your mobile number and you receive one text with the app link; you are not enrolled in notifications by that text, and replying STOP ends it. A sign-in code is sent only when you type your own number into the sign-in screen and confirm the consent line there.
